Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actress. She also sings. Her mother was her primary caregiver in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that left her feeling like someone who was not wanted. After entering a ninth-grade school audition, where she was praised for her voice as she built confidence. This not only increased her confidence but also shifted the direction she wanted to go in her career. At 22 she was a graduate of New York's Julliard School. At the age of 23, her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut in the film You've got Mail, were her biggest breaks. The part of The lad from The Lake became her most memorable success, and earned herself an award called the Tony Award in addition to the acclaim of critics for her role. The following year, she was cast as the character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. Also, she is a well-known performer and has published an extended version of her play. She has also spoken out in support of LGBT issues.
